Ive complained to my local dealer as when I purchased my F-Pace in May I was told that InControl Apps would do the same thing as CarPlay as there was no plans to release CarPlay at the time. I was also told these would work the same on both the InControl and Incontrol Pro, so no real necessity in getting the Pro setup. Now ive no major issue with CarPlay now coming out IF InControl apps or bluetooth actually worked. I have absolutely no way of changing albums or playlists from either the steering wheel or screen while streaming on bluetooth OR plugged in with the cable and selecting iPod. So my only option is to just change tracks in the album I started using when I began my trip!! My only option for changing to anything beyond the existing album/playlist is to pick up the phone while driving!!! This is madness. I have been in to the dealer and they said they are looking into it.
All I want is to have a system that allows me to navigate my library without picking up my phone, even my Hyundai i30 did that and I had that 4 years ago!

I notice in the last pictures they have also moved the Speed and Rev counter dials to the sides with the info section to the middle on the dashboard. Making it the same as the Velar, another move forward as opposed to moving them around when Dynamic is selected, etc. Changing the colours is fine but swapping the dials over is just a distraction.

I wonder if this will be backwards compatible with older vehicles, I.e. my MY17 one :D
Jim, I believe that the revised Digital dial layout is only a MY19 feature. I have asked (repeatedly) for y digital Dials to be upgraded and have been told that they are on the latest iteration, so not sure if it is hardware related (you'd hope not) or if JLR are just not upgrading the MY17 andMY18's in order to maintain a differentiator with the MY19.

So I have had an update from Jaguar. Having waited 3 weeks for a reply, following a chase up I got this response:

Firstly please accept my apologise for not getting back to you sooner.

With regards to your infotainment system and not being able to change albums via the touchscreen, unfortunately there is no way of changing this at this time.
The Phase 4 update that we talked about is for vehicles with Incontrol Touch pro only as is the Smart phone pack that enables apple car play etc to be accessed via the Touchscreen.

If any software becomes available I will let you know.

Once again, I am sorry for the delayed response, if there is anything else I can help with please do get in touch.

I really wasn't that bothered about getting CarPlay, just wanted a way to change tracks/playlists or artists without touching my phone.

So I am left with only being able to play the album/playlist I start a journey with OR picking up my phone and doing it that way. My old Hyundai i30 could even do that 7 years ago!! Really not happy.

I had the same problem, so understand you!
Your options are transfer your music to a USB Stick and then you will be able select artist/albums via touchscreen.
Connect a newer iPhone/iPod touch with your music via cable and then system should enable you select tracks/artists.

Do you not have voice control ?
My old DS with the basic In Control Touch had voice control , in fact ICT had voice control before ICTP....just a thought. If I remember correctly Voice Control only worked when connected to USB.

Ok, wasn't aware of this option. Shows how much I was shown and how much research the engineer put into solving my issue.
One problem with that however is I usually travel with my kids and telling the car to change songs with voice commands is hard with kids shouting. Plus as soon as they know I am asking the car a question they shout their own suggestions!! So not an ideal solution and certainly not what I was sold in May!

That's strange, the last time I had a loan car with ICT, it annoyed the proverbial out of me that it could fully operate my ipod classic (inc album art), while my ICTP couldn't. (Laughably, the ipod classic is now the only thing that does work on v4.0 albeit without album art, but a lovely graphic if some curvy rubber!)

It's probably been 8-9 months now as all recent ones have had 'pro', but can't believe they've reverse engineered it?

Well, maybe I can tbh...

It infuriates me. I speak to friends who have Audi's, Merc's, Renaults and BMW's and NONE of them have this issue. And 3 of those have cars older than 2 years. Mine is 6 months old!

Hi,

Just wondering if you have had an update on this? I'm currently in the process of purchasing an ex Jaguar management F-Pace in Loire Blue with a whole host of options. I have only test driven a 67 plate car which I presume is MY17 and then sat in a MY19 brand new F-Pace which had the updated central display to 18C and also the updated interactive display which looked much better. Dealer states that he can update the software which should change it to the latest version ahead of us buying the car. Is this true? Has anyone recently had the full update not partial which includes Apple car play and software.

Be keen to know prior to purchasing.

Be warned there is no way of knowing whether your Jaguar management vehicle is a friend's and family Jaguar employee scheme car, a press car for motoring journalist use or an Avis rental. They all have similar plates. There is a thread on here with more information.

Thank you for the comment. I did wonder this, the car has 9800 miles on, with a high specification and was purchased from Jaguar Auctions. I did have reservations about where it has come from, but I can't imagine for one minute its a hire car, or friends and family due to it being over ÂŁ63,000 OTRP. Is there anyway of finding out exactly where it has come from?

Search for a thread entitled "Caesium blue ex management cars" on here and it has plenty of information. I have hired a 3.0S from Avis Prestige which was fully stacked with extras. Given staff, press, rental and other management vehicles all have the same registration prefixes there is really no way of knowing the history.

I did see that post. It does make me wonder, the car is in Sheffield which is a long way from me. I've asked them to send over countless videos but nothing can show the true condition. If anyone is local I would greatly appreciate if they could check it out.

Tell your dealer to send it down and subject to a satisfactory inspection and their ability to update the stated software / firmware you will buy the vehicle.
