For anyone who has taken up the activity key option, I had a bizarre experience a week ago. I left the smart key in the car, locked up using the activity key, went for a run and unlocked the car when I came back with the activity key. Unfortunately that's all I could do - I couldn't start the car, and it had to be recovered to Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton.
It seems that the smart key wasn't fully activated again after I opened the car (it would lock and unlock the car, but not switch it on). Jaguar have played with it for a week, and the only thing that they've come back with is to leave the smart key in the boot as that's closest to where the sensor lives. Not hugely reassuring that they have cracked the issue...
