I don't know about Jaguars but some car brands display such errors when the battery is very weak.

 

Thanks 6agne, good shout, I'll check the battery as during this lockdown I've not been able to drive as much as I would normally to keep it charged.

 

Last Saturday my cars battery went flat but before going flat there was a warning message, Battery low please start.
But when I tried to start it won't start and hence all the error messages and eventually I had to call JLR assistance.
Gentleman started the car and checked things updated some softwares, cleaned battery terminals.
Found Battery was OK.
Some relay was stuck which was preventing car to fully shutdown while it's locked but very low battery drain.
That needs a dealer visit.
Anyway before leaving he said keep the car running on driveway for an hour so that battery gets charged. Make sure all other electronics are off. If you are not using daily then every fortnight start the car for 1 hour.
I asked would it affect my cars catalytic converter as its petrol he said no. I asked how about I drive for an hour instead leaving it idle, he said since your car battery is low driving would not benefit but would drain more since car uses too many electronics.
You can give it a try by starting car for 1 hour and just leave it there.

My battery goes flat surprisingly quick, less than 2 weeks if standing. I've been using a CTEK trickle charger during lockdown

That's quite the opposite from what I know about charging a car battery... I know that you should drive to really charge the battery.

 

Correct that's why I said I'll go for a 1 hour drive but the guy said no. Leave it for 1 hour idle on driveway.

Flat batteries have been a topic of discussion elsewhere on the forum in the past.

This thread from 2019 was started by someone who was going to be leaving their car standing unused for four months while they went on holiday (..ah, those were the days, holidays!) . . . the information is still just as relevant for cars not being used during the current covid situation....

Thanks for all responders, I've just checked the battery and it's showing 12.08V, is this good or bad ?

 

12v seems to be good mine was at 7v as per report.

If you have many seemingly unrelated faults it's a sure sign of a weak battery, it may measure over 12V but engage the starter, it will drop and default settings get messed up. Batteries over 3yrs old are always suspect, although some may go on much longer, so if it's out of warranty fit a new battery

 

Update, had a visit from a call-out Jaguar assistance technician at a cost of £180 (note not a Jaguar guy, just a local Motorwise mechanic with a mini computer/diagnostic kit), he plugged in the kit, could not clear the error messages and deduced that the fault is with the ABS system, not 100% convinced, he did think that it could be battery related but no error message to confirm. The vehicle is booked in to the Jaguar dealership in Edinburgh (a 3.5 hour drive away) this coming Friday to get to the bottom of the problem and also a service that is also shortly due.
Will update with results soonest.

 

Update 2:- car returned from Jaguar main dealer with the fault diagnosed as an ABS failure on NSF wheel speed sensor, replaced at a cost of £321 with all fault codes cleared, all looking good now.

 

What an interesting thread, just had 4 warnings come up on my Jag F- Pace:
ABS fault
AEB Not available
Forward alert not available
Tyre pressure monitor fault
There is also:
no cruise control available
no ECO/snow and ice mode available.
Reading the last comment regarding the findings of the Jaguar garage (NSF wheel speed sensor failure) is a possibility in our case, wheel speed sensors are open to all the crud from the road, so are prone to failure, had one go on my merc a few years ago.

 

Seems weak batteries are causing problems with modern cars and the amount of electrical dependency for systems. Batteries seem to be lasting less than 4 years, particularly heavy-duty stop/start versions.
ABS faults are becoming a common fault on other models too e.g. Fords, the ABS sensor going bad causes all sorts of warning problems. My previous car Ford Kuga displayed similar symptoms and warnings. Fortunately, I had a bit of diagnostics kit, that told me the sensor to replace, total cost of the sensor was 23 quid. Not the same as with this where bespoke diagnostics equipment is required.
Again not sure if this is the case with Jaguar but the replacement sensor had to have the exact same part number as the one removed, otherwise this introduced other issues.

 

A faulty ABS wheel sensor in this case is likely a good scanner will tell you which, a faulty battery will give lots of unrelated errors, probably the first sign of a weak battery is the stop/start not working.

 

Had a similar problem on my F-type - lots of amber warning lights. Thought it might be a battery issue but turned out to be front wheel speed sensor. It seems lots of systems rely on knowing how fast each wheel is turning hence all the warnings (it was an intermittent failure at first)

 

FYI my 2017 F pace has had similar issues. RAC diagnostics traced it to faulty speed sensor. The part (a short black lead with a sensor on the end) are £150 from Jaguar but I just found an after market one for £15 on e-bay... matched to the chassis number. So worth trying out ebay and your local garage for this repair not your Jaguar dealer!

 

The ABS sensor issues are commonplace on Fords. For these cars it is important that the part numbers match, else the fault would not go.
Symptoms were similar all sorts of warning lights on the dash.
