AWD And Auto Transmission Maintenance

Post by Mark999 » Sun Nov 10, 2019 3:35 pm

Does anyone know if the FPace AWD system needs any routine maintenance?
Also looking on the online service history it looks like Jaguar schedule the auto transmission service at 10 years. Looking online ZF recommends every 5 years. I think I’ll follow ZFs advice.

ZF make the 8 automatic gearbox, it is used by several manufacturers and seems to do the job reliably, it is electronically controlled, beyond changing oil if needed I doubt JLR get involved.
The AWD system is not ZF, at some stage it will need maintenance, for that Jaguar guidance is needed, at the end of the day we will see what wears out first on high milage cars

I have clocked up over 200,000 miles on 8 speed auto ZF gearboxes with not a single issue and only Jaguar recommended servicing. I did 100,000mls on my first 3.0D XF and 95000 on my second. Have now done 40,000 on my Fpace without issue (DV!). However, I always take out extended warranty if keeping longer than 3 years and always use Jaguar main dealers for servicing.
