Reversing camera - Is this normal ???????????

Post by FL123 » Thu Apr 29, 2021 12:12 am

Hi,

At the end of last year I sold my 2016 Evoque to purchase a 2018 3.0 ltr F pace which has the Park Assist - Parallel & Bay Parking, with Parking Exit (C18Z) function.

One of the functions I found useful with my old Evoque was the bright YELLOW, ORANGE and RED proximity cubes that appear when reversing. So when I noticed that these were missing from my new car the dealership said that they would update my 'infotainment' software to include these. The result is, in my opinion, abysmal - these cubes are so faint that they are hard to see but the dealership assure me that's perfectly acceptable and normal. .If this is true things seem to have moved backwards rather than forwards with Land Rover / Jaguar software development.

I'm interested to know from other members, with this facility, whether this is normal on the F pace (8 inch screen) or whether I'm being given the run around by my dealership.

I don't think it's a big deal.

By the way, I had those rectangles but at some point they disappeared. I don't know how to enable them... does anyone know?

If your software allows, when you're in reverse click on the wheel icon in the bottom right hand corner and you'll be given the option of switching them on or off.

I’ve never noticed these at all on mine so will look to see if they can be turned on as per FL123 advice above.

I can't see what the issue is. They are faint but clearly visible.

I'm guessing what I am assuming is a white garage door may be a factor. What are they like if you reverse up towards a brick wall?

I tried mine earlier by reversing up to the garage door and whilst the boxes weren't as clear as the yellow tyre tracks they did seem to stand out more than yours. You have a different screen to mine but do you have any screen brightness or contrast settings which may alter how they appear?

The warning bars on mine are large & clear when I’m actually close to something, and the parking guides shorten.

Thanks for that info.

Just one question - Is yours the 10 inch screen with the buttons at the bottom or the 8 inch screen with the buttons left and right of the screen (like mine) as Jaguar are claiming that that's one of the reasons for the faint boxes?
