Re: Terminology

Post by goddo » Tue Nov 26, 2019 5:49 pm

We have just pulled the trigger and bought the 25T I mentioned on Saturday.
Given that we have only just driven the car home from the garage and the only other experience we have was the road test on Saturday, we are quite happy and will only be able to put in some faster miles in a few days time. Then we can get a feel for mid/upper range performance.
Also, is there any way that I can find out what the build list was (ie any extras fitted) now that I have the chassis number, please?

Goddo, you can get the full build specification for your vehicle by registering on the JLR TOPIx website https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/v ... lookupForm and entering the vehicle's VIN number. It will give you a full list of the vehicle's specification including factory fitted extras.

I have the P300 F-Type, the same engine as the 300hp in the F-Pace. We done 26.000km sofar, through mountains, als testing the top speed ;
no worries sofar at all. If you are, just extend the warranty before it expires 3 yrs from now. By then some high-milers must be around and the reliablility more known. But if th 25T suits you, stay with that. We did 7.9L/100km [ 35.7MPG ] with the F-Type. Not driving like a maniac, but as fast as allowed, and also flippering through the alps [ https://youtu.be/5mVmH0cP7gc ]. This is a topspeed attempt in Germany after running in the engine and the alpine tour : https://youtu.be/b6Ts2tsFBVA .

Amazing scenery! Have you driven north of Bergen in Norway? Similar but narrower roads.

Regarding the speed test, I managed to squeeze 238 kph (148 mph) on a dry, empty stretch of Autobahn last December on the way back from Frankfurt. I was quite impressed the car actually nearly did the maximum advertised speed but, the unrestricted speed limit stretches of road are quite short on that route up to Brussels and you soon run out of road!

@Smitten. I have been to Nordkap, in 1983.. ..with a very old Peugeot 304..

Indeed. Either the stretch you can actually drive fast enough is too short, or too much traffic is around.
Be carefull speeding in Belgium they installed lots of new camera's..

Cameras everywhere these days! The are on the Autobahn around Frankfurt for example and are set at the speed limit - zero tolerance - I got a ticket for being 4 kph over the speed limit . Lots more in the UK too. The so called "smart motorway" sections being installed in the UK are peppered with cameras and each region can decide how they are set - to just over the limit, 10% over or only to work when speed restrictions are in place. Scotland has average speed cameras everywhere including a huge stretch of the A9...time to get a self-driving Tesla ;)

@ Smitten.
I think I'll move to the US. Some States have no speedlimits, petrol is cheap, taxes are low.. ..no EU.. Sounds great.
Except for the idiots who also are known as 'democrats' . Maybe they can move to Mexico ?

Democrats, idiots? And Trump is as sane as the next man, not. I don’t suppose there should be any politics on this forum if we get remarks like that.
