350mm brakes

Post by bingoburnie » Wed Feb 07, 2018 7:42 am

Hi
Picked it up last week and now this build is ok apart from the brakes.
I had choosen the 350mm option purely for the calipers as they have a cover plate over the retaining spring as image so when i paint them there's a place for the leaper
Well mine doesnt have it and still waiting for a reply from the stealers

Anyone else upgraded

I have tried to measure the disc with the wheel on and it seems to measure 350mm

Regards
Burnie

As with most websites I dare say there will be a caveat to check with your dealer for specifics , and also one to say that images are not representative and items are likely to change.

Looks like the answer is already on this forum... you are not going to like it, but at least you know: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=822&start=20

not bad if you ask me seeing as they started off silver, rough finish and with cover - painted red with logo added

I therefore have the larger brakes as standard but try as I did they were definitely not available in red, crazy in my opinion as it is the Sport model! I even visited the production line at Solihull and again no red calipers offered.

My 14 year old son is driving me crazy to have them painted but its not that simple the standard calipers have a rough finish, whereas the proper Jaguar painted calipers are smooth. I have found a specialist firm in UK, who can remove the calipers from the car, strip them down shot blast the castings and paint (in any colour) even add logos etc. They offer 36 hour turnaround for a cost of around £450.

I don't live in UK any longer but might consider having it done if and when my car is back home.

I also went for the brake upgrade.
Mine didn’t have the plate as per your picture.
It’s only the front thats 350mm the rear stays the same.
Mine were exactly like the photos painted red. Easy way to check if you have the larger disc try cleaning the inner rim of the wheel while in situ. You can’t get your hand passed the caliper, you can just about slide a sheepskin glove through the gap.
Not sure why you say you need the plate as the leaper fits perfectly front and rear as seen on the link.

Barthog
I just prefer the look with the cover plate that's why I made that option
There would be no point to upgrade otherwise as the exta 25mm would not be noticeable
Will give an up date once the stealers get back to me

Strange I understood the brake upgrade gave increased braking performance if I had know it was just for looks I wouldn’t have bothered.

Mine came with red 350mm brakes as standard and that’s because the car is sopercharged so requires the updated brakes.
