0-62mph

Post by BET4 » Fri Feb 17, 2017 4:18 pm

Hi guys.

Just ordered F-pace 3.0 petrol and after that I have found some information about 0-62mph acceleration that shocked me. Could't find any active local forum, so registered here

In Russia Jaguar 3.0, 340 p.s. declares the 0-100kmh (0-62mph) like 5.8 secods. On tests in local press journalist declares 6.2-6.5 and even for 380 p.s. (F-type first edition) runs not 5.5 as declared but 6.1.

I was choosing between Ford Explorer Sport (I know, ha-ha) which runs 6.4 and F-pace 340 p.s. and the acceleration was important for me.

What is the real experience of owners? Could't find even on this forum topic on this subject.

Also it's interesting for me if there's any chip-tuning for petrol engine? Did anyone use it? Where it's possible to order it.

Many thanks for answers.

The petrol engine gets to 60 in 5.1 sec and to 62 in 5.5 sec the speed you quoted is for the diesel engine which is 6in 5,8 sec. Chipping the car cane be done and one company that supplies a chip Is RaceChip.
The petrol puts out 375.

It will always start off in 2nd gear unless you manually select 1st with the paddles, hence people can see times slower than expected
7k miles in an SC rejected, replaced with 3D S on 3rd March, currently same issues on new as old  also now rejected at 1100 miles, deposit on an iPace :o

You mean petrol 3.0, 340 ps or 380 ps? Nice if it

In Russia, Jaguar declares 6.2 for diesel and much more expensive

Just to re-inforce Gman's point .....

Nearly all the Youtube road tests I've seen neglect the fact that the F Pace pulls away in second gear UNLESS you put it into first gear manually every time you pull away by pulling the downshift paddle (it will then stay in 1st until you move away) ... this makes at least a 0.5 second difference to 100km/h.

Also, the 0-100km/h, 0-62mph, 0-60mph (pick your favourite) really isn't a good way to determine real world performance or acceleration. The ZF box is a bit slow off the mark. Far more important is 30-50 or 50-70 or even 30-70 .. in that respect the FP V6 cars (both petrol and diesel) really fly.
Two rejected FP 3.0 V6 Diesel S. Still a massive JLR fan but driving an Audi until Jaguar gets its act together.

Markotley - do you (or anyone else) have experience of using these racechips. The one here for the 3l petrol increases HP to 450!!! Clearly they would increase or invalidate your insurance?

I would also take some of the claimed figures with a pinch of salt as they claim upto 450 but they do not say what you should get, I would say 20 to 30 bhp to be more realistic.

The problem with chipping is that it will void the warranty if spotted but I understand that removing it and installing it are a relatively simple operation which should take 10 minutes. As you may have guessed I have not chipped the engine myself.
