Zebedee goes boing in an F Pace

Post by Zebedee71 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 2:15 pm

Picked up my 67 Ex Jag Mgt FPace last week and so far am delighted

3.0S, Firenze red with the pimento/ebony seats, cold pack, LED's, 350W, TFT, sliding roof and many other bits and pieces
All in all I'm delighted so far and am regularly looking out of the office window and staring at beauty (& I don't mean me in the reflection) :D

The positives are too many to mention and similar, I suspect, to many - so far the engine is a standout fit for this car. Couple of observations which I had not appreciated pre buying

1) The ICTP looks like it is a very early version. Whether its this or other things it has a few quirks eg
a) slow to boot up on cold mornings e.g. the rear view camera (which I need) therefore takes longer to kick in than anticipated
b) Using remote start is great (surprised heated seats not part of that but guess that's a "safety feature) but twice it has stopped when I opened the door and sat in the car
c) Using spotify - bit clunky to get there but love that its there ….and so far its worked flawlessly
d) Much more to learn on the ICTP side to see if/when I need to get later versions

2) Fitted a SIm this morning to get the traffic updates - was a bit surprised that it showed a lot less traffic issues than gmaps (at least I thought so) so will keep a watch out on that

3) A good news piece was that bought the alloy insurance through ALA yesterday for the 25% discount price - thanks already to the forum for the discount code and posts for that benefit - a lot less £££ than the jag offering - I owe someone a beer or two

onwards and upwards and hope to contribute in the future

Congratulations on the new car - just a note on your point b), I have found out that if you use remote start, get in and put your foot on the accelerator the car stops. If you put your foot on the brake first all functions burst into life. This may or may not be helpful but worth knowing. Enjoy.

Also, if you open the tailgate first the engine will stop.

A 2 week update (and a piccy after quick shampoo and wax today)

1) car is thirstier than I thought (28-30 mpg) but only on very short journeys at the mo so perhaps not surprising
2) agree that when using remote start, opening the boot or pressing the accelerator kills the engine - just a learning curve
3) inserted a sim and made the big mistake of setting up my phone on the WiFi hotspot - that was the end of the small monthly allowance. So got the 24gb 3 sim, turned off the hotspot and now just uses fairly minimum data for the traffic on maps. Don’t think it’s quite seamless as gmaps but is seems to do the traffic ok - don’t think I will be a user of the WiFi hotspot except when absolutely necessary
4) quick clean of the the outside today - used the Autoglym shampoo and wax and both worked very well and easy
5) as for the driving, having a great time - it’s easy, fast and surprisingly I have even stated playing with the flappy paddles for further entertainment

Three quirks to explore
a) affordable 5 year service maintenance pack looks a pipe dream - will elaborate further elsewhere
B) the ICTP may have a life of its own depending on how it feels on the day. More will follow but the impression I get is that the same thing works one day and is different the next but it may be me
C) does the drivers seat randomly reposition itself overnight or are the “seat fairies” at play. I have got into the car on at least 3 occasions and the seat has changed position which pressing M1 gets back to where it should be. Is there some link between the remote control which presets the seat position?

oops

an interesting technical issue. Viewed through

a) IE 11 = upside down Australian
b) Edge = upside down Australian
c) Ipad = the right way up UK (submitted via IPAD

the ICPT gremlins are spreading their way into the mainstream
I give up :o
