Back on sensible answers.... once I stopped keeping fob in same pocket as smart phone I've not had problems. Apparently the screen on phone is good at blocking signals from car to fob. Seems to be true.

Daughter forgot something in the car ,so I gave her the keys to collect the item, saying this button to open door and this button to close. After 5 minutes she came back inside the house ,threw keys on the table and said " your car won't lock." " Every time I lock the doors and then go back to check if its locked correctly the door is unlocked"
I then had to explain to her that the car was keyless entry and she had the fob in her hand and when she walked near it, the locks were unlocking. She remarked well that's pretty pointless. I shook my head in disbelief and said you may have a first class degree now, but common sense, or lack of, you get from your mother.

:-) That's hilarious!

I used to tell the child the car recognised me & would unlock when it saw me... ie I'd approach the car, pull the handle & it would open... She'd do the same & it wouldn't....

As a Harry Potter fan, I thought she'd believe it was magic... She just got annoyed at me.... Doh!

My index finger works it every time.

Using my thumb doesn’t work very well - but that my well be because using my thumb would mean rest of my hand is then on the handle as others have suggested.
