AddBlue

Post by HML » Mon Apr 03, 2017 10:24 am

Hi All,
Considering the speed at which I am convering miles (3500 in 1 month) I am wondering how long does the AddBlue will last.
I know the car will tell me when I need to start considering a top-up.
But I was wondering if any one had any personal experience of miles covered before having to do so.
Regards.

Remembering (if I recall correctly) that you need to turn the ignition on but not start the engine (press the start button without putting your foot on the brake) to get to this menu.

I am not sure I trust the Ad blu service indicator. Early in my car's life - pre 2.5 update - the ad blu alert was stuck as 12737 miles for the 6 weeks I monitored it. Then the car had the 2.5 update and it moved... down just a little and it seemed to be going down nicely so I stopped looking. Then last month I looked and it had gone up... but I've not added any and the car hasn't seen a Jaguar dealership for 4 months... so being a nerd I plotted the data I had as a chart. It makes no sense to me! But I have photo's of each reading and have used the photo date as reference. But you can see why I don't trust the on board alert.

And if the on board log isn't right how can the alert be right?

I could but I won't, that would mean getting my hands dirty, I leave that to people who fit in suits - boiler suits! :)

I think it depends on how the car is driven, if you drive it hard the mileage to top up goes down, because it anticipates that you are going to drive like that all the time.
But if you drive gently for a few days the mileage goes up.

I have now clocked up 12,254miles in just over 8 months. I get an on dash warning message "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Level Low".
Vehicle Settings is stating it is due in 1,180 miles and Service due in 3,900 miles.
I will be booking in to Harwoods in next couple of weeks.
I am hoping they can do the Adblue whilst I wait.
