Installing a Blackvue Dash cam

Post by RaVolVoR » Sun Jul 31, 2016 12:36 pm

Here are some notes (attached PDF file) I made for installing a dash cam, this model is a twin camera set up one front one rear facing. Hopefully it will help anyone trying something similar.

Thought that I'd post some pics of how my Blackvue dash cams are installed - All neat & tidy... :D :D :D,

Other post on dash cams has some text to describe how I got the wires from A to B and also to C, without interfering with any of the air-bags.

Only bit of cabling that you can see for the whole installation

Rear camera installed - Unfortunately had to run cable on outside using self adhesive clip.

You can easily get to the back of the internal fuse box so that can find your live connections & earth.

Front camera in situ...... Neat & tidy :)

Remove the roof console so that you can get cables through to the windscreen

I have to say you were much braver than I with the connections! But at least we show its definitely a DIY task!

Is that rear cam sticking outside the car ?? The wire is outside you say as well stuck with pad . ?
I agree reasonably brave doing yourself and not keen on the box stuck to front window and especially not on something externally.

Ha looked again can see it inside and the reaction. I thought it was trailing outside when he said cable was outside
Never seen these cams so really didn't know what to expect

Where did you earth it to? Did you fasten the earth to a bolt behind the fuse board? - not much room with the fuse board in place

The trim panel for fuse box is held in by bolts, I used one of these with a suitable cable loop end crimped on, a nice feature of aluminium structure is that it ought to be a good conductor!

I have mine wired into 12v socket in armrest but not too happy with it using up the socket - so might have another go at fuse box - just is so little space and need to be a contortionist to look into where the board is :o
