Things I would like JLR to develop on the F-Pace

Apologies for repeating my posting from another topic, but thought it might be an idea to make a list of things that JLR could consider in their development programme for the car.

It is a pity there isn't a 'like' function on the site as on another forum I belong to the software developers use the number of likes for suggestions to help them prioritise the development and enhancement of their software, a win - win as the developers get some direction and the customers have a say on what additional functionality they would like (or the developers can explain why physics and reality might hinder their ability to add the requested functionality).

Ignoring faults with and the quality of assembly of individual cars (which should all hopefully be resolved) it may be worth helping JLR by giving them an idea of what their customers feel is important for the development or improvement of the car. This might be in terms of materials used on the interior, the shape of the rear end of the production car compared to the prototype, fuel economy, larger engine with more power output, or whatever.

My 2p worth is.

Having used the remote start function on frosty mornings the thing I would like to be able to do is have the ability to turn on the heating system to its max de-mist/defrost setting with the remote app so not only would the car be toasty warm when I get in but the front and rear windscreens would also be completely clear, even when I only have a short amount of time between starting the car and wanting to drive off.

Fortunately the 3 times I have used the remote start function I had time to sit and have a coffee while I waited for it all to clear.

That said, I do like the remote start and this would be classified as a 'nice to have' if I was prioritising functionality to develop.

Apart from the obvious things with ITCP ect ect thats well documented on here.

Something basic i would like is the ability to have a shortcut function on my home screen to allow me to be able to go to my USB list.

Like when you press the three little dots at the bottom then select USB it comes up with the folder lists of Albums.

There is no shortcut function to allow you to go straight to the Album list on the source your listening too, you have to go through the same press the three dots at the bottom, then select source to get there, would be nice like on my old Evoque to go straight to this point.

Guess no like for my idea from big jon then :D
The idea is already there you set car temp and it heats up and turns both heated screens on, on the remote app. You are asking for something that is already there

I drive around 25,000 miles every year in my car. Now in the F Pace. I am 6ft 3' and have had a couple of times hit my knee into the trim just below the front air vents. The angle of design seems very flat and should be profiled to give better entrance. Also the drivers door panel top, where you want to rest your elbow when driving. It is at an angle but seems a little too high. I personally would like this to be looked at for improvement

The few times I have used the remote start I have not seen the lines in the frost that I would expect if the heating elements were active and fortunately had time for a quick coffee while it all cleared away. It may be that though there was frost on the glass and roof the ambient temperature wasn't low enough to trigger the heating elements to switch on.

As suggested by Arianne (I think it was) there may be an option somewhere in the settings to select auto screen clearing. I will look when my wife returns with my car which she has 'borrowed' for the weekend leaving me with her little Peugeot 2008! Her car is well put together, all panels aligned, etc. but the infotainment system is very basic and the car is very labour intensive. You have to push a button to unlock the car, put the key in a hole and turn it to start the engine, lift the tailgate and then lower it yourself, manually push the seat back and forth, the list is endless and I'm quite exhausted after all this work. :D

In case it's not obvious, I'm missing my F-Pace

If the temp is below 5 degrees, when you start the engine it automatically has both screen heaters switched on to clear them.

Thanks for all those that replied to my original post, I have found the setting to get the auto screen heaters on, which they were already. I will check they are working correctly when we get the next frost.

So that was easy for JLR, they had already provided what I wanted :D

Anyone else got any ideas on what they would like adding or changing on the F-Pace?

Apple CarPlay and traffic warnings by TMC for those who do not have the incontrol apps for the ICTP.

I am the laughing stock of the company right now with my 60K € car and a 10 year old TomTom sticked to the front screen to have traffic warnings. For me there is no Pro in the ICTP.

Also nice to have is auto hold and cruise control with brake function.

Isn't it funny how we are all different, I was only saying to my wife at the weekend how Jaguar had really hit the right spot with the angle on the top of my door for me to rest my arm on, a genuinely perfect fit.

I would like the front passenger seat to have the ability to fold forward flat for long loads, just like the Volvo V70 (2000-2007 models, 2 tiny levers and the seat back fell forward you could carry 3m long loads then!). I bought the F-Pace to carry stuff and this is the only negative I've found, so it must be pretty good for this minor issue, but it was so useful!

Both the Incontrol Touch and the Incontrol Touch Pro are powerful but complicated systems that have the potential to provide the driver with an enormous amount of information,. However much of this is wasted as in my experience the dealers do not have a full grasp of the system's capabilities, and as a new owner of a Jaguar F-Pace, I was left to my own devices to play with the system and discover what was available and what I wanted to use. I would not be surprised if the majority of Jaguar owners using the new system were aware of less than half of the capabilities of the systems. The Owners Handbook and associated instructional videos on line are helpful but limited and not the full story. I personally believe the Jaguar Land Rover dealers or the company itself should provide free training sessions dealing specifically with the infotainment systems for individuals purchasing a new car from them, and run by experts that know the systems in depth. Perhaps only then will most new Jaguar (and Land Rover) owners be able to tap into all the information that is available in the system, and use it effectively.

On another matter, it is frustrating that, having inserted a multitude of addresses into my address book section of my Iphone (5s), complete with postcodes, there seems to be no way of selecting them for navigation purposes when the phone is connected to the car. Again, this should be a fairly straightforward software fix. Plus any photos of friends/clients on the address book in the phone don't appear on the screen

While I'm in the mood, I shall continue... The F-Pace I purchased on 1 Sep '16 is the 2.0 R-Sport AWD model with manual gear change, and with the Incontrol Touch Pro fitted. Previously I owned an Audi Q5 S Line Plus Quattro, a similar car with the same engine capacity and also with manual gearshift. The physical position of First gear on the Audi is very similar to Third gear on the F-Pace, and on three occasions when joining a major road on an uphill T junction, I have stalled the car, due to inadvertently selecting third instead of first gear for the start. In one instance as the car jumped forward before stalling, it came close to causing an accident, which would have been totally my fault. However on the Audi Q5, I was used to seeing which gear I was in displayed on the instrument panel in front of me, when that gear was selected and power applied. Additionally it advised the driver when to change up or down. As I understand the system, the present gear selection on the F-Pace is displayed on the automatic version when the paddles are used, and on the Head Up display, an optional extra that I didn't request. The only indication I have concerning gearing on my F-Pace is a green indicator telling me when to change up. From a road safety viewpoint, I would recommend that the Incontrol Touch and the Incontrol Touch Pro on all Jaguars is updated or upgraded as a matter of urgency to include a digital indication of the selected gear, particularly the manual models.

I agree, this would be a brilliant service to offer. When I bought my Evoque, the car I owned before I got my FP, it came with a complimentary half-day's off-road training course, which was absolutely fantastic because the instructor really knew every aspect of the car and it's systems. I came away from that course, not just knowing what the car was physically capable of, but with a much more in-depth knowledge of the sat nav/infotainment system, which he explained in some considerable detail before we even started any off-roading . . some of what I learned that day has been useful to me to transfer over onto the workings of ITC which is on my FP, because even though they are different there are many similarities. So, yes, it would be great if Jag could offer something similar specifically for their own range . . heck, it wouldn't even have to be free of charge, I reckon I'd pay to go on an afternoon's training with someone if they were really 'in the know'!

But it's like when you buy a new iPad, you get absolutely no instructions on what it's capable of, you have to kind of blindly figure it all out as you go along, like it's some kind of krypton factor aptitude test!

My dealer called me, as arranged, one week after collection and offered a one-on-one session with one of their team to go through all the ICTP functions. They state this is best way of doing it, let you have a go first then come back for some further training. I assumed all dealers did this.

Same service from Lancaster in Sevenoaks. Got a walk through and set up st handover, then told they'd get in touch to arrange a session once I've had the car for a while, which they duly did
