All,

I'm (as is Jagcat) doing the Jaguar Factory tour at Solihull next Tuesday 22nd. Let me know if you have any build related questions. I doubt this can be around specification more general production etc.

These are mine so far:

• F PACE UK build dates, my vista order: xxxxxx (I'm going to ask if they can check it whilst I'm there lol)
• Holding Pool and how are orders prioritised
• Global and UK production numbers
• Priority build countries
• Max unit production capacity
• Test and Q&A procedures
• Acceptable fault tolerance % at launch

If any one wants to do the tour you can book on the Jag Experience web site at £48 per person. I hear from someone who has done it you can see the F PACE production line in action now :D

I can see us getting escorted to the gates if we don't get the answers we want....still.. A little revolution now and then is a healthy thing right!! My dealer says we my get the answers after they (dealers) have had their away play days in millbrook at the end of the month. Our / any future order lead times and official delivery dates probably being confirmed to them there, as they will be able to hyp car up to other potential buyers with new vigor.
Another new piece of info sourced today from dealer as I asked the question about the weight of my wolf hybrids on that raised floor.Apparently humpgate and all boot floor variants capable of 400 kg sounds like an awful lot even when evenly distributed!
Looking forward to tour Tuesday as long as DAL doesn't get our arses slung out in the name of the forum

So Jags cat and I did the Jaguar Factory Experience today at Solihull. Before you ask no photo's were allowed.

We sadly did not get any real update specific to F PACE UK build dates.

The tour however was superb and I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone buying a Jaguar (or Range Rover). Amazing robotic production technology, logistics and Q&A processes. Our host was excellent and has been on the site for 55 years through the different eras and owners back to the TR7.

I'm even more excited after seeing so many F PACE's on site. I even saw one exactly same spec as my order at the end in 'final inspection'. It looked stunning. One great thing about the trip was seeing all the different colour and wheel combo's. I've definitely made the right choice on my spec (for me anyway).

Apparently 80% of production from Solihull where the XE and F PACE are built are exported. There were so many F PACE's in the plant being built and in the parking lots (mainly left hand drive). Two weeks ago Jaguar apparently had over 7000 F PACE orders globally so it is going great guns. They can dynamically change the manufacturing (currently 1200 cars per day) to produce more of either the XE or F PACE based upon demand/orders (so we told them to build more F PACE's lol). Cars are built relative to customer order priority so when you see the line it's a mixed bag of cars (i.e. it's not all one model car, the production line automatically adapts to the car that is next...

Solihull plant capacity is 168000 cars a year and they are currently building 1200 cars a day (Jaguar and Land Rover combined). They are soon moving to three shifts from two and will be adding another Jaguar model to the production line (currently XE and F PACE at Solihull) but would not state what the third model is !!

Apparently the cars that keep being seen on the transporters are headed to Southampton docks for export which makes sense.

So, for £49 it was well worth it :D

Thanks DAL.

1200 cars a day, 7000 orders? I hope you told them not only to build more F-PACEs, but to build F-PACEs only. Then we all could have our car next week. :D

Welcome. I should add and make clear that 1200 cars a day is Mon to Fri. They undertake maintenance Sat/Sun.

Also that it's 1200 across all cars built on site manly XE, F PACE and RR Sport etc.

I can only concour with my learn-ed new friend DAL to the site, a very well conducted tour, even for a very very fussy person like me..(according to Mrs jags cat!!) We both so wished we could have shared what we saw today with you as you have been left in ore at the organisation required to run this huge machine! However!!!!!....
I am to, very much aware of what appears to be developing on the forum over delivery dates and showroom models etc... I only wish that the level of customer service we experienced today from thier experiance team and in particular our tour guide Rod was duplicated. Whatever is happing or not with customer services... I will again repeat... Apologise for mistakes and Mis-information, people will forgive you, as long as the reasons are genuine and unforeseen! But to carry on not delivering on information for customers current and potential are relying on is unacceptable!
If the car drives the way it looks Jag will have game changer here in my humble opinion, but not getting the rest of the package right for both customers like us and the info dealers need in trying to promote this car, it could easily turn to a shame changer! I only wish they would spray my car in the casium blue it is stunning, just don't tell DAL that it's better than the White!!

Jags cat it sounds as though you all had a fabulous time. The customer service you experienced sounded like the slick and professional preview event we attended last month.

As you say there seems to be a disconnect between that and the information those with orders in and those wishing to see and drive demonstrators are getting.

It's great that @Ryan is providing a Jaguar presence on the forum. He is being very helpful but the company message he is being given to relay seems out of step with the preview approach.

The measure of a company's customer service is how they deal with things that go awry. I want the company to be honest and to remedy the problem when it goes wrong then they get and keep my loyalty.

Agreed, I know that the wife and I always buy where the other goes Audi, Saab, Range Rover. As she is head of audit for a very big company, I don't fancy thier chances on procedures when she starts asking questions...trust me!!!

In addition to the report on yesterday's tour by DAL, I am recounting other information as the old grey matter takes a little longer to download nowadays!! Having seen the construction methods / materials used on the car in the real metal... I now understand the need for the ugly cover on the rear door frame. Unfortunately as DAL said we were not allowed any photography, Basically the main structure is mostly aluminium, but the rear quarter of the car is steel, with the exception of a composite tailgate This was nessacary to achive a better 50/50 weight ditribution for handling . A chemical bonding agent by Sika is combined by riveting, and their is a line of these fixings on the join underneath this cover. Maybe the new MY18 will paint it body colour depending on plastic type being used! It was also worth noting that a proportion of F pace being made were in fact FE models still(casium blue) so backs up that not all are ready to be handed over potentially, but then raises the question why are you also building other variants of F pace, if FE was the main priority to be handed over first? Our guide said that once a car had been built and handed over to customer despacth it had approx 6 hrs to be got off site. So either all the uk FE are in a holding area at Gaydon... Which means being handled twice!!! (Mad) or they could be being delivered to dealers under orders not advise customers until all are ready for handover all together like they are telling us. Or they just aian't made them yet? Either way it don't make much sense, unless someone is not telling us some thing?
As I keep remembering stuff relevant to the car I will keep posting on here... Err...now where did I put my pants?

IN Reply to CobStar, Agree entirely on Customer Service, things can and do go wrong but when a company doesnt deal with the issue correctly I never buy of them again.

I am beginning to think is the Fpace worth all this disinformation hassle from Jaguar, my two alternatives Macan and GLC are excellent cars, is the Fpace going to be that much better?

I hope the reviews early April are good as if not I will be placing an order elsewhere.

It was offered to me but currently in the final stages of building our new house so couldn't commit to doing the tour despite dearly wanting to go. :(
