Well I am trying to be positive but sometimes it's hard! Waiting for my dealer to call me about Patch2 but I have a draft rejection letter all set-up... these so far are my faults (I think this is it all....)

Physical :
• Sealant visible on the windscreen pillar (NS) on the interior of the car
• Scratches on both black plastic trims on the boot (beneath the spoiler on the upper of the boot)
• Rear view mirrors don't reset to normal viewing position after the reverse dip functionality
• Door trim rattles under low to medium volume / bass (drivers door card, driver's B pillar of note)
Electrical :
• Relay in the boot constantly clicking, overheating and smelling of burning
• Heated steering wheel faulty, won't power on or off randomly, doesn't heat up
• Boot close button fails to operate but in the same location the remote or in-car button will work
In-Car Entertainment / Information System :
• CD system won't rip music
• CD's don't eject from the player
• Fails to detect devices plugged into USB
• Bass / sub adjustments cannot be over +2 without distortion on the speakers and door card vibrations
• 360 / parking cameras fail to start up and / or camera choice is seemingly random, with the 360 view often failing to start
• The climate seat function screen often fails to start so settings cannot be accessed
• Parking sensors slow to respond, graphical interface only appears when parking completed
• 360 sensors often don't engage or elements are missing from the overall cover
• No consistency in the camera / sensor views when driving or reversing
• Voice control fails to work or correctly recognize commands or connected devices
• iOS voice control doesn't function >95% of the time and is erratic at best
• 3G connectivity in the vehicle randomly disconnects meaning no access to traffic and services
• InControl system forgets settings and information - for example stored locations, wifi passwords, vehicle settings
• On playback track advance randomly fails to work or skips 2 tracks
• Tracks often play twice before moving to the next track
• Album art is often incorrect or fails to display
• Can take >25 seconds for touches on the screen to convert into actions
• Screen fails to respond at all
• Display freezes
• InControl resets itself

Sorry to hear of your issues thats some list, as for the stereo speaker issues, i posted and saw a ex car stereo audio expert, he does not work in the industry anymore and he looked and did as much testing as he could and found that due to all the sub frequencies go to all speakers that the door speakers are not really upto taking sub bass frequencies and thats why your suffering from these issues, i would be surprised if everyone does not have this issues, the only solution we could find was to add filters to stop these frequencies going to these speakers or replace the speakers.

Sharing most of those jonty (except where I don't have the option e.g. Heated steering) plus a few extras (panel alignment, sunroof & blind issues, intermittent suspension problem) so really feeing your pain. One good therapy is take it on a long blast and at least enjoy the sublime drive. Some consolation but like you won't prevent me from rejection if these aren't all sorted.

My Issues with the car are well documented on this site and I am in discussions with Dealer and Jaguar to resolve BUT BUT BUT drove 540 miles at the weekend sublime what a !!!!! Great car it is, I drove motorway cruising at 90mph single track roads at 15 mph and every mile was so enjoyable. I have been made told that the Jaguar CEO is on the case and the ICTP issues will be resolved.

That will be the first time a CEO solved something and not making it worse. :? :? :?

Jonty any plus points  ;)
It's gorgeous, it drives well and now with my 4G wifi fix I have constant connection and super awesome Spotify (which doesn't suffer from farty bass so I assume there is some different input gain settings behind the scenes). The climate seats (when I can control them!) are amazing, the bolster adjsut, ent is epic and for someone 6ft 7" like me its so comfortable to drive and not have to fold myself into. My gesture boot is flawless (ironically the button isn't!) and the cooled glovebox keeps my Mars bar frosty cold! The steering is epic, the ride sublime and the brakes are like throwing an anchor out. And did I mention how good it looks?

The context is also that for me my JLR woe's have been going on for over a year since I got my XE... In fact, I'll post my letter to Jeremy Hicks that got JLR to send their technicians and ironically ICTP guy to my house to interview me on my feedback, and then they bought my car back...

Here is the letter I sent about my XE :

Dear Sir or Madam,

I purchased a Jaguar XE at a VIP event in February before even driving the vehicle, its good looks, promise of a great drive and fond memories of my 09 plate XF had me pre-ordering there and then taking a little leap of faith, and believing in the marketing hype that was generated. At the VIP event I had the chance to sit in the car and look around the control surfaces which I was told were still at the pre-launch beta stage.

After a longer than expected wait, and some very poor customer service from my local dealer (they in fact didn't order the correct specification from my XE build and I ended up taking a discount on the vehicle in exchange for not having the power fold mirrors and heated windscreen I had ordered as the estimated time for a replacement car was 3 months) I received the car and was very impressed with the drive, handling, looks and economy. What was less than promising were some issues with the build quality and infotainment system, including the remote app functionality which has been much hyped.

If we initially look at the build and quality issues, I have had two trim panels come loose (B pillar's) and also the rear splash deflectors in front of the rear wheels both require re-fixing regularly. There was an issue with the speakers in my Meridian system upgrade, and after a replacement I am told my car is needed again as there are further faults to be identified and the rattle and distortion from either the panel or speaker is still there. Underneath the steering column I was shocked to see no gaiter covering the gap between the column and the trim panel and basically a bare bulb shining through - looking more 1960's Mini than 2015 Jaguar. Both my windscreen and sunroof have a 'sucker' mark that appears when there is any condensation - it mirrors the shape of a glazers tool that is used to place the glass, this hasn't come off after 2,500+ miles and several washes and on the windscreen is directly in my line of view and isn't acceptable. I have had a rattle from the NSR of the vehicle which my dealer said was a suspension issue known to Jaguar and was 'fixed' last week, yet a few days later and I have a similar, if not the same, noise coming from the same location.

The remote application with cabin pre-heat which I hoped would make up for not having the heated windscreen I ordered worked fine for a few weeks and then now works maybe 1 in 30 attempts with no rhyme or reason as to when it will activate the remote climate, yet the trip mapping, lock / unlock function and location finding are all fine - signalling that it isn't a communications issue - but my dealer has been unable to fix this. For a period of time some of the menu options were missing from my information screen between the dashboard dials, these reappeared after the whole infotainment system rebooted itself constantly for around 6 hours - again the dealer can find no reason why this may have happened. In addition to this sporadically the telephone car kit will perform so badly I have to stop the car and make the call on my handset, and restarting the car or infotainment system or reconnecting the handset (or power cycling it) does not remedy the situation. This has been evidenced at the dealer where they recorded the issue - and again I haven't had a solution yet. While this fault occurs with the car kit the voice dial commands are also not functioning.

Further issues with the car have included the rear parking camera and also traffic sign cameras failing every so often and working again for no apparent reason or with any pattern and also the car coming out of Eco or dynamic mode and announcing 'special modes not available' only for them to be selectable some time later, again with no pattern of time to remedy evident.

By far the biggest issue with the vehicle is the user interface of the infotainment system which I believe is being rolled out across the JLR estate. For the record and benefit of openess I own two companies that specialise in user experience and user interface design and testing so I speak with experience in the field working with both academic and commercial clients globally. Basically the user interface is incredibly poor, and many of the issues are so obvious they should never have made it from a prototyping stage, never mind through testing - which I am assuming was undertaken. Before I list just some of the issues with the interface I would also point out that the speed of response to touch and also the overall processing of the system is far behind your competitors (BMW, Audi and Mercedes et al) and also far behind mainstream brands such as Vauxhall, Fiat, Ford and Skoda - and is a step backwards from the speedier response in the last generation of XF solution.

There are dozens of usability and UI issues, but a few of the glaring ones are :

• On the home page if you scroll to the right you have a CAMERA option, yet you have opted to also have a hard button for the CAMERA - there is no need to duplicate this function
• On the home page the iconography could be resized and the screen real estate used so that all the functions could sit on one page eliminating the need to scroll
• On the hard button you have a MODE button, which is also on the steering wheel - yet the iconography is different on both - hinting at different functions
• In the same way MODE is labelled as SOURCE (which would actually be more correct as a term) when in the MEDIA options - again confusing and unnecessary
• On the sat nav - the road names often appear in a way to obscure turns or junctions
• The sat nav often tells you to move over to a certain lane way too early to be useful - today on the M6 I was told to get into the left lane 8.1 miles before my turning, which was 3 junctions away
• When processing and displaying turn data, there is no consistency to the distance before it is highlighted - I have seen everything from 2 miles to 400 yds and means that when this data is sent to the HUD which is designed to limit moving your eyes from the road, you have to validate the instruction from the centre screen, rendering the HUD almost pointless
• There should be the ability to add a house number to the post code search on the where to options
• Fuzzy search should be applied to postcode searches instead of demanding a space be inserted - the results can easily feedback and identify the correct answer
• On the steering wheel control the left and right functions are labelled with what is internationally recognised as fast forward / rewind but actually does not perform this function - it skips tracks or stations
• When using the steering wheel mode button the OK function does not select the on-screen option which is confusing
• When playing back audio the iconography used is identified as those common used for skip / skip back functions whereas it also performs the fast forward / rewind function but this isn't made clear
• When utilising an iPod or music player device, there is no snapshot taken of the file directory and often after browsing a folder and coming out of it you are taken back to the first entry - which is hugely frustrating
• The voice commands list is extremely limiting - while the recognition is good there should be more general terms - for example PLAY (artist) or PLAY (album) rather than having to be more specific, filtering from here could be done from the results, in its current form you would need to recall far more information than is sensible to browse all of your audio collection
• The different function screens (nav, phone, media, climate, seat controls, etc) should be categorised into primary and secondary screens (as they were in the XF). For example if I adjust the temperature of the seat, I should be able to let that screen time out and return to the primary screen I was previously on (nav for example)
• Many functions require far too many user interactions to complete than is required - for example changing a seat from heated level 3 to cooled level 3 can require 6 button presses (select seat, press down once to get to 0 then 3 times to get to cold 3, and then another to get back to the primary screen) where it could be 2 (select seat then have a different levelled infographic followed by a time out return). These performance increases in the UI would mean the user spends less time distracted from the road, has a better user experience and also minimise user and wear of buttons and the screen for longevity

There are many more examples of where the design could be improved and I am sure that other users, along with myself would be more than happy to assist, discuss and be part of some 'real world' testing on this. I participate in an online forum where users are discussing the many issues we are seeing with the first batch of XE's (index.php) and while there are a lot of positives there are also a lot of negative comments and feelings and I believe JLR would do well to engage with people such as myself and fellow posters to help alleviate these issues and improve the product based on real world feedback.

I love the look and feel of the car, it drives beautifully and I want to be delighted with my investment in the Jaguar but at the moment there are a growing number of negatives eating away at the positives.

I look forward to your thoughts, comments and a response.

Some of this is because I test and design user experience and user interfaces for a living (in fact ironically again we sell equipment to JLR, they obviously don't use it very well - something I have pointed out) so some may seem minor or pedantic.
