Is Incontrol Secure Worth it

The InControl Secure Tracker is a Thatcham Category 6 tracker. If you end your subscription then you need to tell your insurers and your premium may well go up. Possibly worth asking the question of the insurers now as the overall saving may not be as great as it first appears. I would be interested to hear the outcome.

Fair point. I assumed, possibly incorrectly, that the OP has Secure Tracker now and was debating whether to retain it or not.

I do have the secure tracker and paid £260 to renew it last year. I obviously need to check with my insurance company and see if the secure tracker is included in the current policy and what would be the effect of removing it.
I am now wondering if removing the tracker also removes the maps of your journey details, mileage etc. Does anyone know the answer to this?
The Tracker is unrelated to your journeys, so you won't lose that functionality.

I think the journey logging is part of InControl Pro Services and requires the SIM card to be installed. InControl Remote/Protect (they come together) just gives you the ability to view them on your mobile, rather than the website (I think).

There are two parts to the factory fitted 'other tracker' - the hardware, which will still be there, plus the subscription to the service that actually does the tracking. The insurance company will expect you to have both as one is useless without the other, so if you cancel the subscription then you will need to tell them you no longer have a tracker. The journey logger doesn't count.

I would still call your insurer. What makes you think they won't be able to answer your question? Worse case they will be able to transfer you or direct you to someone who can.

Result! I'm surprised but will bear that in mind when next mine is up for renewal.
