Hi all,

Aware there are multiple posts on extended warranty however looking for some up-to-date options for 2025. Just coming out of manufacturers warranty for 22 plate P250 30k on clock. Jaguar quoted me 12 months @ £1008.

Other posts mentioned RAC, but they don't seem to offer warranty cover anymore, Jaguar multi-year also doesn't seem to be an option. Many other players in the market but I'm too concerned about fine print and having the provider wriggle out of any claims.

About to bite the bullet, but thought I'd check here before I do that I'm not missing any other options I should consider?

Thanks!

You can't beat the Jaguar Extended warranty cover, it is very, very comprehensive, you can add Jaguar Assistance and will cover claims up to the purchase price of the car. Avoid the Jaguar Select cover with is very limited with a single claim limit of £3,000. Imagine your engine exploded.... If you're looking at alternatives, check the claim limit, does it include any assistance or recovery, as the Jaguar Assistance does, does it cover consequential damage, i.e. if the timing chain/belt snapped, that itself may be covered, but is the rest of the destroyed engine?

Oh, mine is up for renewal now. F-Pace is 7 years old, has covered 45,000 miles. Extended Warranty with Jaguar Assistance is £1,680. I'm considering allowing it to now lapse as I've just retired and my mileage will be minimal, considering I have 2 cars with access to 2 more.

If you've just retired, just enjoy your car for as long as you can ! It's well worth it !!!
Yup, I'm only 57, so early retirement! Finance is worked out, I told my work to go F themselves and left (OK, I was more polite!). So to enjoy my life now it's my own. Still trying to decide if I should renew the warranty or not though....

Definitely renew. Our F-Pace is about a year older than yours and has done fewer miles. At 7 years old I was faced with the same question. Fortunately I renewed - £1,950 for 3 years - as 18 months later the steering rack went. It was covered under the warranty, as were the two front ABS sensors when they failed. The total bill for that lot would have been in well in excess of £5K, and there is still 18 months to run on the policy.

Congratulations on your retirement. We retired at 58 as we had both had enough. We have never regretted that decision for a moment and how we ever found the time to go to work I will never know. Enjoy it.

My hesitation is also I can take into account that I have my own small workshop, car lift, tools etc. and am a competent mechanic, my son is a certified main dealer mechanic too. So if say the rack were to quit on me, I could source my own replacement and change it myself. I have a good relationship with my local Jaguar specialist garage too, so any coding I can't do, he can. A brand new Jaguar supplied rack is currently £2,800, but reworked units are now available for half that. Wheel speed sensors are almost a service item, around £100 each. They essentially just push in place. Your renewal price of £1,950 for 3 years was a bargain. My renewal this year is £1,680 for 1 year.

Mine is coming up for renewal & like Cutlea01's it has gone up by over £300 this year for no apparent reason, well maybe they had a lot of claims on steering racks & 2.0D engines 🤔

I have a small issue with mine where it's loosing some coolant, but they can't find from where. I suspect it's the coolant expansion tank cap, as that's the only part they didn't pressure test & the seal is quite heavily indented & various people have had issues since they were released, so I've ordered a new one. Will be fitted & tested for a couple of weeks before I need to decide on the warranty.

A coolant system pressure test kit isn't very expensive and you can test the system yourself (I can't bring myself to trust any JLR dealer now). A new cap is easy and cheap too, which can't really be tested. At least with a pressure kit you can satisfy yourself whether there is a leak in the system, even leaking the pressure for a few hours which I'll bet the dealer didn't do.
