Hello all,
Newby here, needing some advice on common coolant leak issues.
We have a coolant leak (realised when warning light came on), which seems worse the more we drive it (photographed tank on consecutive days with small trips versus longer ones). Sat on the drive the level doesn’t seem to drop.
It went to an independent Jag specialist in Newbury, who found a leak with the secondary coolant rad (the driver’s wheel arch one), which they replaced. However, we still have a leak. I checked over a few days in case it was just trapped air etc. after the refill but it still drops after a drive.
It went back in a week later, they pressure tested it again, and can’t find any sign of a leak.
There’s no sign of any leaks in the engine bay, even when running and hot. The garage said it’s not going into the cylinders, no sign of white smoke, and no sign of leakage around the coolant tank (other than a couple of small spots on the outside presumably from filling overspill).
I haven’t checked the drivers footwell yet so will do that later today when the car comes back from a 1h30 round trip.
Does anyone have other suggestions on what we can check (with the garage’s help) to track it down?
Many thanks!
Ade
