Hi took delivery of my new Fpace 2021 model a few weeks ago. Its R dynamic 300 MHEV diesel. I previously had the same model in the old shape ie 300S diesel and it was a totally reliable car without any problem in 3 years. My new one has not got off to a good start however. Firstly I have the problem that other new owners have which is I can't link my profile on Pivi Pro to my Incontrol account - after some confusion Jaguar have confirmed it has to go back in to a dealer for a software upgrade (called 'vehicle shared secrets!) so thats happening this Wednesday.

The last week after a few weeks of no problems a message came up with something like 'electrical problem - stop when safe' and the red battery indicator li9ght came on. I carried on driving and after a few miles it went off again. next day on start up same issue - again went off after 10 miles or so. I was concerned that the car might not be charging so dropped into my local dealer (Inchape Jaguar Guildford). of course Covid panics meant they could not possible have the car in their workshop but I asked if someone could come out as do a diagnostic on the car - they advised me that the best course was to call Jaguar recovery - they would come out and do this and I was told 'put it o na trailer and bring it here - but you would get a courtesy car from the recovery people'. They then said they had several other cars with similar problems to do with battery charging in at the moment and no fix known!

I decided to keep the car as it was due in the following week for the software upgrade.

However since then although the electrical issue has not arisen again on three occasions now whilst the car is stopped at a junction on 'hold' and with the stop/start operating when I push the accelerator to start the car again it says 'engage gear' on the display - but it is already in gear. The car won't then move causing drivers behind to get agitated! The only was is to turn off the ignition and then restart - sometimes this takes a few goes - and twice the car then wen into limp home mode....

All not very confidence inspiring and I am hoping the dealer will be able to update me on what has been happening after its visit.

Apart from these problems I am very happy with the appearance and the lovely new interior....

I'd be straight on to Jag Assist. That's what it's for.

Welcome to the club! I collected my new f pace on 02 March, returned it to dealer on 23 March and its still there in bits and a long list of outstanding faults. I have now had the Disco Sport HSE Jaguar provided 3 times as long as the car I actually paid for. Will be rejecting the vehicle shortly if its not fixed soon. Kenny

Lovely looking vehicle inside and out . Not good your getting problems if it's a simple fix and all good after then all's fine but if you get same problems again then I'd reject the car as a lemon . It's definitely it what you want in a new car

Yes that was the old one before it was collected. The car is in the dealer and I have a Discovery Sport now whilst we await for an answer from Jaguar. They have two others in there already... They think it needs a new battery and inverter but not really sure what the problem is...in terms of rejecting it that a bit complicated as it is a lease car so would need to go thru them - and I guess a new one would take months to arrive now...

Sorry to read your issues and nice car.

As others have suggested call Jaguar Assist as this will be the quickest option to get your car resolved.

Does not sound great when your dealer says they have others with the same issue and no resolve.

I hope you don't live in North Scotland, MaxUK, as there is no Jaguar Assist in North Scotland (I believe it stops around Perth). Just a friendly AA man with NO specialist Jaguar knowledge and certainly no Jag spare parts. Strange when we all pay the same retail price!

Got my car back a couple of weeks ago - electrical problem seems fixed - apparently a new alternator was needed and the new part took a couple of weeks. the Velar was OK but a 4 cylinder and generally not as luxurious as the Jag - I do love the car and its quietness and ride and really comfortable seats.

Now going back in to dealer again as often it says no SIM detected (its embedded) so no connected services.....!

I have just had the same "electrical problem - stop when safe" message come up on my 2021 Fpace. As I wasn't far from home I got the car on the drive and left in 30 mins before restarting. The car started and the message had cleared. When I stopped the engine a message came up that the battery needs to be charged. Perhaps the same alternator issue you've had ?

Spot on Chrism100, managed to get Jaguar assist out last night and the engineer that attended confirmed the belt had shredded. Wasn't carrying a spare so will return Monday to fit a new one and hopefully also complete any fixes to avoid this happening again.

From the search suggested it does seem that many owners of the new Fpace have been suffering from this defect and its a real shame that Jaguar haven't made a recall or addressed this when the vehicle has needed to be back with the dealership, I had to take my car in just a few weeks ago for a software issue to be solved, so as this is a known issue it would have been good for them to have fixed this then rather than wait for the inevitable.

Luckily for me the belt tore when I was just a few miles from home so I was able to get it back onto my drive, others not so lucky and have been stranded for hours on motorways and needed recovery etc.

Thanks for your help on this, much appreciated
