The very reason I have a big Volvo mat in my boot , Found the jag one a bit flimsy) and a fold out thick bumperguard that covers all the nasty bits that are to me dangerous for a dog. ( and also not comfy to sit on with talegate up) I learned a similar lesson in the XC60 , dogs paw when he jumped up...
