Hi All

Been on here for a few weeks so about time I said hello. On a VIP tour tomorrow and looking forward to getting my car in the next few weeks. A Jaguar is a big step up for me as previously only had ford Mondeo and Honda CRV type vehicles. My new order is pretty much bog standard R-sport. Will post pics when i have it.

Enjoy your trip and please post some pictures for us .

Our other car is a 4 year old Honda CRV , the second one we've owned in 10 years , never breaks down , just quietly does it's job .
Must admit though I far prefer driving the FPace 😃 it puts a big smile on my face that a Honda just can't do.

Yes, that looks like a really good experience, thanks for posting the pics.

At a glance that first picture, looking in from the tailgate, reminded me of interior views you see of the International Space Station . . . all those visible components and wires! . . you should post it on the POTM thread, it's great to see such an unusual view of an F-Pace. :)

Looks like you had a good time pictures are great, they do treat you well there. you must post some pictures on collection day.
My Wife still tells people how much she enjoyed it and how interesting she found it considering she didn't want to go.

We still pine for our old CRV. The AWD used to eat the snow which I would pray for each winter. It went to a good home.

Now with the F Pace it's not leaving the drive for the slightest flake of snow ❄.

Not that I don't trust the car in the snow.....I just don't trust myself 😀.

Mine came fitted with summer tyres so I'm am still pondering the fitting of winter tyres and when to look at fitting them? The Evoque has all season tyres so that one should be OK. I had an X3 with summer tyres on and in the snow it was absolutely crap even though it was a 4x4 it had less grip that the FWD VW my wife had at the time.

Reg, I wouldn't ponder too much longer. They will increase in price by +/-£50 each between now and December!!! As for when to fit them, I usually wait until we have 5 consecutive days where the temperature is below 7C (the temperature at which Summer tyres loose their effectiveness and Winter tyres start to come into their own). Winter tyres are great in the snow, but also provided much higher levels of grip on wet roads as well. If the weather continues its decline as it has over the last couple of weeks here, I'll be putting mine on at the end of this month.

Regards,

Jock

7DegC is a guideline number of course (I found Bridgestone RE050A worked down to lower temperatures than Michelin Pilot Supersports for example) but that seems like as good an approach as any.

What you can be certain of is that you'll get a warm spell after you fit the winters, but if you delay until it gets properly cold - you'll find yourself sliding around whilst your nice winters tyres are tucked up in the garage/shed. ;)

I've looked at a range of tyres from GripMax, Hankook, Yokohama, cooper and Continental the prices vary greatly between supplier as well as tyre price. Not sure what ones to go for?

If it helps you at all, I have used Continental Winter Contact TS850's for the last 4 years. I used them on the Range Rover and they were superb. The grip was excellent and the wear rate quite low. I recently sold my winter RRS wheels still shod with the Conti's and after 4 season's use they still had 5mm of tread. This isn't bad as I tend to keep them on for about 5 months of the year.

I have purchased a set of bare rims and TPMS valves for the F-Pace and have the New Conti's in the garage waiting for me to pull my finger out and take them to the garage for fitting. This will probably happen some time at the end of this month. I am looking forward to the change as I find there is an appreciable amount of road noise from the Pirelli Scorpion summer tyres that were fitted by JLR. I expect the Conti's to be a lot quieter as they are manufactured from a softer compound.
