Jaguar Remote Issues

Anyone having problems with journeys not recording and the app thinking your car is miles away when you can clearly see it on your drive?

This started happening to me on Saturday, and the fault is intermittent. Rang my dealer today and they said "funnily enough - we've got a new XE in the shop today with the owner reporting the exact same problem". So it seems it's not just me.

I have ICT - not the pro system and picked up my car 2.5 weeks ago. The dealer says they'll let me know what they find with the XE in the shop.....

Can't say I've used the app for a while tbh, but I've noticed this sort of thing seems to happen occasionally, only rarely, but from time to time.

Don't panic, it's most likely just the InControl Remote server connection that's having a 'bad-hair day' . . it'll probably sort itself out once the backroom boys have stopped messing around, turned it off and then back on again. Sometimes if you log out and log back in again it helps, but the glitch can sometimes be at 'their end' of the line rather than at yours, so it doesn't always re-boot until they do whatever it is they do :? . . I'd suggest you wait a couple of days and see if it corrects.

Yeah same thing, travelled 80miles and back over the weekend, checked the app and the app says my car is parked in Bradford when I can see it parked right beside me "sunny" london and also yesterday's journey not yet reflecting

Thanks everyone.

Catwoman - that was my thinking - that it could very well be a fault at the Jag side..... with several others reporting the same issue, it seems like it's very likely to be that and not a fault with my car...... which is preferable! I'll call the dealer tomorrow and update them with this intel.

Now, if only the rear camera came on when it should........ :)

I've had the positioning issue on the app ever since I've had the car, but, only when I park at home, it can be on the drive or even in the garage and the app tells me it's 200 yards away at someone else's house, doesn't happen when I'm on the road parked elsewhere just here....I've mentioned it to the dealer but not really followed it up.

Be interesting to see what comes out of your queries Foxy?

That's annoying. Does that SatNav correctly detail your position when you are parked on the drive?

I'll post if/when I hear anything

I'm not sure where the app gets it's map and positioning data from, but I have noticed this sort of thing also happens quite often if you put an address into Gmaps, even with a postcode, the pointer 'flag' can often be a little off target. The app could be using the same basic info and suffering because of the same inherent inaccuracies.

By the way, Foxy, I checked my app this morning and it seems to be working correctly for me . . has yours started behaving again now?

Current position appears to be fine but last few journeys are hit and miss, my start and end journeys are sometimes shown as the crow flies and not following the road at all.

Really? . . not at all? . . . you probably realise that it works by contacting the car at intervals, every so often, rather than constantly, so it will update as you progress along a route and follow the road by drawing lines between the nodes where it contacted the car. If you zoom in on the map, closely, you may see the straight line wandering off the bends and twists in the road, between the nodes, but it should still generally follow the route.

Same here. Car's location is accurate but the route has been shown as a straight line (as the crow flies) for the last few days. Thought it was my 3 3G subscription expired. Obviously not!

It's hit or miss if my route is shown on the actual roads I drive on.

I have "airplane mode" turned off on my phone :D

My Jaguar remote App (on a Samsung S7 Edge) was showing my car where I parked it on sunday morning. its now saying its at home. With some certainty I can say its at the train station and has been since 6am yesterday morning

The latest route showing is Sunday 24th. I actually think its just running 2-3 days behind in some kind of bizarre way. Pretty sure the cars movements are matching those on Sunday.

weird, or is it just quirky!

Yes this is exactly what I'm seeing Flub. It catches up with itself every now and again and then falls behind. It's not so much the journeys data that bothers me...... I just don't like the fact it is telling me my car is somewhere it isn't. Makes that feature totally useless if it lags behind.

Anyway - it's obviously an issue at the Jaguar end, so hopefully they will get it sorted as it was working fine until Saturday when it all started to go wrong! Someone probably tripped over a wire and pulled a plug out of a server room somewhere!

Nothing back from my dealer yet

Hi all

I had the same thing with mine (albeit that was a while ago) and I was told on the two occasions that I spoke with JLR about it that it's an issue with their "back end" (oooer) and not the car itself. I was seeing exactly the same as discussed here (car parked in wrong location, flying over fields in route planner, etc, etc) so sounds like they are still have issues.

cheers

Yes my straight line journeys are now all displaying correctly again, this has to be an issue with Jaguar servers as JLRnumber5 mentioned, their servers must be overloaded or maybe their having trouble installing a software update & its crashing their hardware !!! :)

Remote app seems to have caught up this morning, although it's missing my journey from Monday morning.

Not sure what they have done up in the midlands, but the app now seems up to date. even more importantly it actually seems to contact the car each time I open the app (android) which it never did before. In the past I would have to do a forced close and reopen the app to get it to make contact with the car. Even that was unreliable.

perhaps someone has turned the app dial up to 11
