Bodyshop / Ding repair West London

A neighbour's motorbike fell into my boot in the wind last night and has taken a gouge out of it. It's about the size of a 20p and a good few mm deep in some places. Can anyone recommend a decent body shop / service in West London? The Jaguar website only recommends 2 places, Central Motors in Hayes and HR Owen in Slough.

I am assuming there are no warranted implications in getting a body repair from a different place rather than their official ones?

Hi,
Sorry to see that it hurts.
Now this is a bit tricky , when I had my rear doors corrosion repair done under warranty, jaguar approved body shop prior to work did an assessment of my car, they were using paint depth monitor device to cross check on affected panels and nearby panels if car was repaired by me from somewhere and that job must have been some sub standard work and hence corrosion and now I am claiming warranty.
You see where I am going.
My car was brand new obviously nothing but that's how they work, I don't think it should be an issue if you get your work done from somewhere else but question arises if you want to claim warranty later and they find out something related to this repair how you are going to deal with that.
Although mine repair which was done by jaguars so called approved body shop I didn't like it v poor job. I am have given up.

Thanks.

Regards,
KJ

Have you tried Chips Away? The agent in my area has a great reputation and has done several wee jobs for me on my previous Range Rovers (no need on the F-Pace.... yet!). Although, Chips Away have some really good processes the end result very much depends on the technician applying them. A wee ding like this should be well within their capabilities. See if you can get any recommendations from folk within your area.

It is very convenient as it is done wherever you happen to have the vehicle, home, office, even Tesco car park! It will be considerably cheaper than anything JLR will offer you.

+ 1 for Chips Away and Revive. Their repairs come with a lifetime ownership warranty.

I think you need to decide if you need to have full warranty body cover in place. If Yes then you need an approved JLR bodyshop. If you are not bothered about the warranty then I would go to 'Chips away' or anywhere.

To he honest even if you take it to a Jaguar body shop they will contract the work out to a specialist body shop as they simply don't have the skills. I had my wheels repaired at the Wheel Specialist and it is used by Aston Martin, BMW and other local dealerships for powder coating damaged wheels. Same with body panels. You don't have to have your car serviced by Jaguar to maintain the warranty. I imagine it is the same with bodywork repairs.

I am another who would recommend Chips-Away but as they vary form location to location it maybe an idea to find you local one and do a quick google search to see what reviews they have been given as i know some people do not rate them in different locations.

So mine was picked up today for it's repair to the bumper. It's gone to Gold Motors in Croydon. They seem to know their stuff and the owner apparently runs the Nissan GTR owners club. Guy who picked it up is responsible for the final checks and polishing, seemed a real car guy, so hopefully it'll come back looking better than new!

I can post an update once it's back if it helps?

OK, they brought it back this morning, but I had to reject it. Loads of orange peel, was actually rought to touch, not overspray rough, but not flat. Could see it didn't fit in with the paint of the rest of the car. Guy delivering it was fine, as soon as I said I wasn't happy he said he'd take it back. Let's see what they come back with.
