Hi all, so my car went into get the various checks done , track rod ends, coolant tank, etc. However they have now found some more issues on mine that are not supposed to be relevant to my VIN chassis build Codes, but have been on other forum members cars, this includes the USB lead and or module replacement, and I apparently have very slight squeaking rear bushes problem. They have advised Jaguar technical support, and are waiting a response as to why my car was not identified in the original notifications programme for these issues.

Have been asked to return car in the next few weeks, to have the work carried out, and for further investigation into the start button not functioning correctly intermittently, which has only happened in past week or so. So it would appear that my fault free car,........was not fault free after all.

Appreciate that given some of the nightmare issues still ongoing for some owners, and the current debarcale holding up deliveries of new vehicles due out in March and April, these problems are very minor, what it does reinforce is the need to have a dealer who gives a good level of customer service.

Regards,

Not sure what to think about this news. It does sound a bit like the left hand doesn't really know what the right is doing! It seems that communication between JLR HQ and the Dealer's service departments, via the TOPIX route, is a bit inconsistent. How can they be looking at issues that aren't relevant to your VIN? :?

Can I ask you to check something for me Mr Jags cat . . have they updated, or offered to update, your car's software so that the "Winter Wiper Park" feature is enabled under "Wiper Settings", which is in the "Convenience Features" section of the "Vehicle Settings" menu, all accessed from the steering wheel menu button? I have been told there is no software update available to enable this, but it's a feature that is definitely now available on all cars with ICT (..not on mine!) There has to be a software update for ICT since we collected our cars last year. Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to provide on this.

I had an F Pace 2.0d Portfolio bought 6 months ago in October. This did not have it. I have sold it and got a 3.0dS a week agp. This does have the same as in the picture. It must be an update.

Hi CW, I agree with that,..... given what's going on in JLR right now, I don't think the right hand even knows there is a left hand   :? !!

To be fair to my dealer, at least they have been checking the other things as a matter of due diligence and as a result found issues I was unaware of!! So credit where it is due ;) TAUNTON JAGUAR :p :p :p

Other service depts might have just checked only what was asked for. I will ask them about any software updates as the letter said there are a number of features included for 2017 update. At least they gave it a clean and a vac before they returned it. I know some members think it's not a good idea to let the garage do this at the risk of damaging the paint etc, but it looks like they have taken care and must have cleaned the inside of the wheels while they were removed to check the brakes, as they are spotless and like new!

However,...... ...just had a quick check on my menus and winter wipe option is listed in grey, but not accessible to activate still. I will ask when it goes back in, in a week or so, as am going for a mini break to Wales to enjoy the rain that's coming

Regards,

Original didn't have it even with ITCP v2.5 upgrade, v2 did, maybe on the later build cars there is a hardware change that allows the software to exploit it?

I think the option (if you have it) might only be accessible on the menu when the engine is not running . . could that be why it was 'greyed out' on yours?

All I know is that cars now have it, if built after a certain date, while earlier cars did not have it. So, what I am trying to establish is whether anyone who did not have this "winter wiper park" option on their car originally, has subsequently had it added after having a general software update...

I do not have the option with or without the car running and its not visible on the menu.

So how do you replace the wiper blades if you do not have this option?

From the manual:

Before changing a wiper blade, the wiper arms must be set in the service position as follows:

Make sure the ignition is switched off.

Switch the ignition on and then off again.

Immediately press the wash/wipe control to its lowest position, as if to command a single wipe. Hold this position while switching on the ignition again. The wipers move to the service position. See WIPER OPERATION.

When the new parts have been fitted, switch the ignition off. The wipers return to the park position.

OK, will give it a try. thanks.

I'm not with my Jag at the moment so can't test the winter wiper thing, but just looked at the digital handbook to see what it said, and found it doesn't even have a section on 'vehicle settings' aside from listing it as one of the menu choices in the 'Instrument Panel Menu' section. That's a bit weird isn't it? :?

Tried both CW no change I am afraid!!, but why have it there even in grey if it can't be selected. Someone in Jaguar needs to get thier *hit together!!!

Not even an option for there for me to choose winter wiper park mode, and mine was built last month!

Think they have bigger issues to resolve then this in fairness, if all we had to complain was about not having a winter park option life would be so much more enjoyable.

 . . I totally agree, it's a very small issue, of itself, but my reason for attempting to clarify it is that if someone has had this feature added, after a software update, when they didn't have it before, it proves it can be done and also proves the software update has been applied. As we currently have no other way of knowing which iteration of the software we have on our cars, this could possily be a good indication of having a recent update installed, or a "product enhancement" to use the official term.

UPDATE!

So dropped off car this morning for the various bits of work to be done. Also asked for them to investigate a very slight noise from gearbox / clutch / driveline that sounds like the thrust release bearing, but isn't constant. They have called me this afternoon to say they need more time for road testing etc.

Hopefully this isn't the start of a long list of ongoing issues one after the other!! :?
Have been loaned a XE , after my request to have an F type fell on deaf ears....... again   In all seriousness,......I think they are missing a trick here, If they loaned out higher spec models than your own,..... you maybe more inclined to want one when you get your normal vehicle back.

However, after 4+ years of SUV driving I can't get used to this low down driving with your bum just off the road style   Find myself having to do some kind of controlled fall into it. Also it seems to have changed colour from shiny black to matt brown!!

UPDATE 2.0, Oh dear :( ,.... it was all going so well !!!
After picking up my car yesterday, I thought the first thing was to check if the USB source that kept cutting out intermittently had been sorted,..... turned up the volume past 20 and MICK baby seemed to be quite happy blasting out with Jumping jack flash without interruption.
Next up after turning off music was to listen for the gearbox noise! :|,....again nothing , but as this is an intermittent issue it's probably having a quiet day.

SOS Malfuction, .... was apparently caused by a loose wire and rectified, as were the other points raised..
Today I had to go into Yeovil to get dog food, well you know what they say!,.... every dog is only 2 meals away from being a wolf !!! In our case for those who have seen our wolf hybirds,.... it's more like 0.5 meal   ,
Dog Cabinetry Sled dog Carnivore Fawn

anyway I digress!!!.

Going down the A303 at the speed limit.... :? with she sells sanctuary at a unacceptable level ( great sprited driving track though) it cut out, .....then in,....and back out, every 10 secs or so as before!!! BUGGER!! ( are we allowed to say the word bugger) ?

Shall be on the phone again to dealer tomorrow. I know I have a very short fuse when it comes time this sort of thing, ( pardon the pun).... basically because it should be such a simple thing to get right. We all use USB's everyday to store or transfer data.

It unfortunately doesn't help my case to argue with the wife to swap both out for the Lexus brand, rather than stay loyal to a British ( sort of) company!

Onwards campers....., regards JC,
