Just thought I'd start the thread in readiness...

Apparently it's coming to a cinema near you very soon.....

I wonder what the 'Helmet' will become then?

Almost certainly mine was saying no update available now it says up to date. It seems only a small number of vehicles had been enabled whilst they tested it now they are rolling out so all need a visit to the dealer to get it working.

Interestingly my car went in for an update from 18C to 19A on 10th June. Since then it has the new two options at the top of the software screen, Software updates on and lock software updates. You can see the picture View attachment 1824 .

I clicked on check for updates every day for weeks as I knew there were newer versions and people on forums were reporting their cars had updates available. This never returned anything until two days ago it actually popped up while I was driving with the option to install now, remind late or skip update. I wasn't checking for the update I was driving with the satnav set but it prompted me.

I got home and checked for update and one was there so I updated and it took about 10mins to download and install. Strange that it is only a 7MB file.

It seems that although my car had SOTA enabled it didn't make all versions available to me at the same time as others. Perhaps they roll it out to slow down the demand on the service?

Anyway I think this makes for an easy way to tell if SOTA is on your car. It adds the two option buttons at the top.

Sorry the pics are sideways I don't have time to resend off my phone before heading to work

Do phone calls trough ACP are working now ?

Haven't been in the car since I did this update. Today I jumped in just to test it and I can now hear people when I am called on Applecar play! It seems this 7MB update was a patch for the issue! Anyone else tested?

Picked up ours today after a water pump failure (replaced under warranty) and a battery drain issue (TCU Software Update required apparently) and they mentioned that campaign H322 which I believe is the SOTA version has been withdrawn due to "severe problems". On questioning what the definition of severe was apparently several vehicles have ended up with bricked units that required complete restore in the dealers.

How is the latest version working out for you? I hear that OTA updates have been suspended. My software (18B I think) continues to be a joke.. USB music complete hit and miss (before it broke my USB stick), radio sometimes doesn't appear or won't start, cameras randomly don't turn on etc
My original phase 2 was so much better!

Mine has been pretty stable so far and the Apple CarPlay has been very useful too! I had one OTA update since moving to 19A and that downloaded and installed without issue too. For me at least the update has been a great improvement.

Currently on 19A and it seems an improvement. Occasionally it does seem to take quite a while to boot up and I think the order of boot up may be slightly different to earlier versions as I have to wait longer for the satnav before I can enter an address. Slow keystrokes are still a problem and slow reaction of touch screen but functionality is good.

Just as an FYI I had H232 "fix" applied when my car was in for its second service yesterday. This morning it informed me an update to 19B was available and would I like to install it (193Mb). I was previously on 18C. I don't think it has installed yet (using SIM in the car and driving through some patchy reception areas) but nice to see it auto-magically kicked in. The dealership didn't offer to manually upgrade to anything after 18C (I'd requested an update to the latest) but I don't really mind if SOTA works...
Hopefully it'll update uneventfully while it's parked up :)

Are you in the UK as I suspect countries other than the UK are utilising this over the air thing but the UK isn't at present. My F Pace as of today 31st October certainly isn't asking me to upgrade

Hmmm, has been stuck on "downloading update" since Thursday. I parked the car close to home wifi overnight and confirmed plenty of Mbps available (running a speed test in car web browser) but this morning it's still in the same spot.

Is it possible to reset the update process or ICTP itself this process restarts? Doesn't feel like this update is going to complete.
Thanks

UPDATE: this finally completed when I had the car away from home and with sustained mobile reception for the SIM. I'm not sure if this was because the update started on the car's mobile data or if there's some electronic chat with JLR during the install process, but it would not download or install when only attached to our home wifi. We don't have any mobile reception at home, so the update only kicked in when I was on the road... Anyhow, 19B fully installed and seemingly working find...

I was already on 19B but had a update to a later version of 19B install today over the air.

I had the same wireless update message but when I looked more closely the image was showing 19A i had a 19B SOTA a couple of months back and the care tells me it is up to date so I guess they are probably going to do a couple of mail shots for the same update over a couple of months in the hope that the majority of people are covered.
Occasionally my USB still reverts back to initial plug-in mode after a start up, suppose I will just have to live with it. :(

Mine was in for service today. They said they hadn't done the H232 SOTA update because they'd done a car before mine and bricked it, with no-one in the factory to help sort it out, so they were worried about doing the same to me! I'm a bit confused though, because it's definitely been updated to 19C - is enabling SOTA separate from the 19C update itself?

#675 ·
Did it tell you an update was available and then you accepted the prompts?, if not it may have already been updated via 'Pathfinder' when in the dealers. It may still need the SOTA update and all updates have the possibility of going wrong and crashing the car so I can understand them not doing it when there is no factory support available.

#676 ·
No. I was on 18D before the service, with no SOTA available. Now I'm on 19C, but I don't know if SOTA is enabled or not. :?
