Another Gremlin, anyone had this one?

Pulled up in a parking space, gearbox to park, needed to move forward so went into drive and then park again.

This caused a fault with the parking brake. Brake warning amber light comes on and the red parking brake light flashing. Then I get an error message parking brake requires calibration, please apply brake and parking brake together.

Needless to say that doesn't work so now I'm left without a parking brake...hope I don't need to visit it anywhere hilly...

Seriously, it's a brave owner who keeps one of these things out of warranty ...

What are the instructions you need to follow to correct the issue ?

I had this just this morning. Although it said to press "ok" which I did and once the message went away I couldn't apply the fix. I had to turn off the car then turn it back on, the message came back up to apply the foot brake and handbrake together which this time I did and it fixed it. So, follow the instructions before pressing ok, and it should be straight forward.

I too have experienced intermittent park brake fault warnings, finally arriving yesterday at a situation where the car wouldn't move at all - park brake apparently stuck on. All attempts at cures suggested above failed. It so happened that yesterday was the hottest day of the year where I live and, on thinking about it, the previous problems had been on hot days too. So, I went out early this morning, in slightly cooler weather, and hey presto, no fault warnings and the car moved without a problem. I am now convinced the problem is caused by the cabin getting very hot and frying the electronics.
