Gear stick and clutch vibration

Since buying in Nov 16 there has been a definite vibration through the gear stick and the clutch pedal. Despite going in to the workshop twice I have had no joy from either my dealer or Jaguar customer service who now describe it as "a characteristic of the car"!

Has anyone else had a similar fault?

Can't comment on clutch judder or take up vibration as I do not have a manual version of the F Pace. It is a fact however that when JLR are faced with a problem they have no solution for out comes the phrase "It is a charactistic of the vehicle" This has been mentioned on the Forum previously against other faults. They tried this on me but I was able to prove to them that a driveline vibration is definitely not a characteritic of a modern vehicle except a military tank so they backed down and replaced my 5 month old car. Stand your ground and whisper social media which very often then brings the complaint into sharp focus.

Hi banks15, welcome!

You don't mention whether you are feeling these vibrations when the car is travelling at speed, in gear, at certain revs, or when just idling in neutral.

When driving my manual R-Sport there is certainly nothing I'd describe as either excessive or unusual coming through the gear stick (just a faint transmission tremor, tbh not unexpected) and certainly nothing with the clutch pedal (it feels smooth when changing gear!)

So, if what you're describing is excessive, then it doesn't sound particularly like a normal "characteristic" to me. :?

Think this has been mentioned in another forum - have a search around.

There are a few threads on the F-Pace forum, but no resolution or conclusion ...

The second one mentions that gear stick vibration is common on the XE 180PS as well, which I can attest to! General view seemed to be it's just a feature that some do exhibit and others don't. But don't remember anyone complaining about vibration through the clutch on the XE?

Thanks All The vibration on the gear stick is there all of the time although it gets slightly worse as the revs increase.

Getting the impression that this is a known, common (ish) problem that JLR don't have an answer for and its the luck of the draw if your car happens to have it. Disappointing to have a problem like this in what is otherwise a great car. More disappointing is the response I've had from both dealer and JLR. You would just think that with this brand that they would be totally on the ball and moving hell or high water to resolve it but that is far from the case. Hen's teeth comes to mind.

Hi

You are not on your own. I am unfortunately having exactly the same problem. The gear stick vibrates terribly in neutral and only a little when in gear and below 1200 revs. The feedback through the clutch is just awful if you are changing gears over 1500 revs which lets face it isn't exactly thrashing the car!!!

My car has been back twice and still not fixed. I am told it is a quality issue!! and was shown a video of other manual F Paces with gear sticks vibrating. I have offered to video my neighbour's Hyundai which doesn't do it!!!

I am now seriously losing patience and debating rejection and if so do I go for another F Pace or what!!

Any tips on rejection would be greatly received!!

Russell,

Sorry to hear of your issues and if you were to reject the car the only advice i would give is get an Automatic.
