Yes - try Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner. See http://www.bilthamber.com/auto-wheel. Best thing I ever found for cleaning your wheels. You just spray it on - wait for a couple of minutes and rinse it off with a hose - brilliant alloys. Even gets rid of the crud on your callipers so they stay nice and shiny. Its not cheap but it is good - use a wheel brush to work it into the difficult parts . Also once cleaned to a sparkly shine seal with autoglym wheel sealant every six months.
I'm with you on this one, my fan blades take seconds to clean and it just so happens I like the look of them anyway. As for my BMW RT motorcycle- an absolute nightmare to clean the wheels, with twin discs making it extra difficult to get in the nooks and crannies.
